I’m currently working on an experiment with one of my sites with link building relative to anchor text. I have seen many methods out there using different strategies. One thing is for sure, you need to change up your text links in order for backlinks to be “highly” effective.
Normally, you would take your main keyword and spread it out among different sites, blogs, etc. Then, you would find relevant terms or phrases and add those as anchors. Mind you, my experiment may be nothing new or groundbreaking. However, I haven’t seen results from this type of strategy so I decided to post in regards to the specific technique. It will take a little time to actually track my progress but I will try to give updates. Here goes:
Choose the keyword that you want to compete with. Find a keyword tool that will give you actual traffic figures. Check the average number of searches for your target keyword or phrase for any given month. (Remember, this is only a test so I have no clue what kind of effect this will have). If you can, start your link-building with PR6 pages: Paid or unpaid, directories, blogs, social sites, etc. Find the very highest searched keyword or phrase relative to the keyword with which you want to rank. Now, use that top searched keyword as your anchor for these sites. Next, drop to PR5 pages. Now, use your chosen keyword as your anchor on the PR5 sites. With the PR4 sites, you will take the next highest searched relative keyword/phrase and use as an anchor. You get the idea. I hope that you can make sense of this.
Notes: Add your keywords, in descending order, to your meta keywords in your header. Be sure to add all keywords in somewhere in your page’s content (naturally).
If any of you have done this before, let me know!
