The debate lingers…Does Google PageRank really matter? I, myself, do not really know the answer. But, my gut feeling is that IT DOES. I think the problem most people have with PR relates to the SERPs. The argument is that you can have a PR of 0 and rank higher in the SERPs than a PR with a higher number. This maybe true, but obviously other factors play a role…especially in search engine optimization. Another argument relates to traffic. It is my understanding (confirmed by a quick check) that JohnChow.com has dropped to a PR3. Does anyone actually think that this will affect his traffic? I think not.
Listen, all I can gather is that PageRank is changing every nanosecond and will affect SERPs in some way, shape, or form. Only quarterly, will you actually see a physical change in Google’s toolbar PR.
On another note, my blog (the one you are reading), just dropped from a PR3 to PR0. Not quite sure why, but I will give fair warning to everyone to what I had on my site:
Digital Point Co-Op
TNX.net
I have left the TNX on but removed the Co-Op. For the most part, the TNX links have been related to my site whereas the Co-Op has not. Whether or not this will make a difference…time will tell.
